Petroleum Commission saves nation US$600m

Petroleum Minister, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has disclosed that the state would have lost close to US$600million if the Petroleum Commission was not in existence. According to Kofi Buah, government is committed to strengthening the Petroleum Commission; and he stated that country has moved from the era when training and technology allowances used to be channeled to the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation as far as oil exploration and production is concerned.

GHANA AWARDS FIRST ONSHORE OIL
EXPLORATION LICENCE

ACCRA, April 7 (NNN-GNA) -- Ghana, which has discovered significant oil and gas deposits in its offshore areas in the Gulf of Guinea, has awarded its first onshore oil exploration licence to Swiss African Oil Company, a subsidiary of Swiss African Petroleum Ag, and PET Volta Investments. The new exploration and production licence is for the Keta Delta block, in Volta Region (province) in the southeastern corner of the country
